Formatting with %downloadedmetar1vis%

I noticed yesterday morning that my visibility was saying:

Visibility: 3/4 mile(s

So, it looks like when you grab that line Brian, you’re grabbing 10 spaces. I would suggest having it look for the “)” instead. Or if the “:0” on the end is consistent, have it cut off using that as a marker.

what was the full string supposed to be?

it was supposed to be “3/4 mile(s)”

keep an eye on it…i.e, does the (s) always show up?
we dont have visibility in the metars in this country,…

I looked at about 2 dozen decoded METARs from around the country… they all have “mile(s)” in their visibility line.

Samples from Alaska to Hawaii:
http://weather.noaa.gov/pub/data/observations/metar/decoded/PASN.TXT
http://weather.noaa.gov/pub/data/observations/metar/decoded/PAHO.TXT
http://weather.noaa.gov/pub/data/observations/metar/decoded/KPKB.TXT
http://weather.noaa.gov/pub/data/observations/metar/decoded/KBDE.TXT
http://weather.noaa.gov/pub/data/observations/metar/decoded/KTBN.TXT

Just an FYI to Brian,

This definitely pulling 10 spaces…

I’m using another METAR now and it says “7 mile(s):”

The raw decoded METAR is:

Visibility: 7 mile(s):0

ok, uploading a new 10.16 zip now, will be ready in an hour or less, which uses only 9 spaces

ok, uploading a new 10.16 zip now, will be ready in an hour or less, which uses only 9 spaces :)

That won’t work either Brian…

Then some METARs will show up like:

10 mile(s

and…

3/4 mile(

ok…i will do a search for the last )

%downloadedmetar1temp% is now doing something similar…

Instead of showing:

87 F (31 C)

It shows:

87 F (31 C) Heat index: 92.3 F (33.5 C):1

Not sure why it’s grabbing so much now but not earlier today.

If you could have it terminate with the “)”, it should give much better results.

there must be some heat index info in the metar ,

hi, dont know if you found out, but 10.16a should be Ok for the visibility
let me know…

Thanks Brian.

Yes, it does appear to be working now.

did you want me to check for the heat index added on?
next time that happens, email me the metar file, thanks
