Recently upgraded to 10.10t. I have been having a problem with WD crashing the 1st of each month. Today was no different. I did check the programerrorlog.txt file before restarting WD. It contained 2 lines, resetting the rain total and resetting the temps.
After restarting WD I noticed the rain had been reset but not the temps. Don’t know if that helps any or not…
hi
what weather station type?
if a ws2010-13 data logger (ws2010 station), then it will be because the log file is too big, becuase of duplicate time entries
but i have now finaly fixed that in 10.10t
and so that should not happen again
you can reset those temps hi/lo under action, reset daily extreme values…
Right on schedule, crashed overnight. Here is the contents of the programerror.txt file before I restarted WD

FWIW, I am running 10.12q now also. And the errors in the programerror.txt file regarding the .ini file are most likely because I installed a 2nd copy of WD to use for testing and I was running both at the same time. I have since moved the 2nd copy to another machine so I can test code for Brian on importing datalogger data from the WDII console, and, maybe figuring out what causes the program to crash on the 1st of the month.
beruberu, what weather station are you running, and what OS in on your computer that is hooked to your weather station? After WD crashes, is there any useful data in your programerror.txt file?
Perhaps we can find a common point that will help narrow the problem area down…

Ws 2210 with Windows XP
nothing in txt file…
It is not the first time I have this trouble… but it makes a few monthes that it didn’t happen…
if you have a file called 2wd.txt with that 2nd installation, then it uses wdisplay2.ini
and so you should not get any conflict with the wdisplay.ini file…
strange…
re the davis wmii data exctraction:
one thing that will cause grief is the fact that the time/date entered in the ini file for when to extract data from was only being updated if you exit wd via exit, save and exit
i have changed it, to have it update each minute,in a new 10.12r, other wise if wd crashes, it doesnt get updated…aqnd at start up, its trying to download data from along way back…
i have also done a few tweaks with the davis wmii data extraction that might help
A follow-up to my earlier post since I switched to 10.12r. It has been a couple of days and the contents on the programerror.txt file now shows:
ERROR: Unable to write to WDISPLAY.INI at time/date 14:00:00 6/3/2004

These errors are coming from my primary WD connected to comm port to the WMII console and contains ALL my historical data. The 2nd copy of WD (running off server) programerror.txt file looks ok.
While I wait for you to find time to work the datalogger problem I need to know if not writing the WDISPLAY.INI is going to cause me problems, or if I should ignore the errors?
Dan [-- waiting for the 1st of the month to come around again --]
– Looks better than it was before…shut down WD from 14:08 to about 14:30 while I installed 10.12s and rebooted the machine –
do you have any antivirus or protect software running?
Yes, wouldn’t run without it
as for the error with the wdisplay.ini file, i am not sure, but it must be some conflict occuring at those times....
If the above data looks okay for the import I don’t need to run the second copy of WD anymore. I should mention that the graphs show a spike in the data and are grayed out for the period I shut WD down. Is that normal?
Is there anything you want me to do in regards to the first of the month crashing of WD? Am I the only person having this particular problem??
ok, but you are with the ws2010 type station, which it looks like still has a end of month problem (to do with the log file size (zip and email me the log file 62004lg.txt, thanks))
,whereas dcrooks has a davis wmii, which should not have the same log file size issue…
