I finally found, quite by accident, the source of my file read error on startup. It was the datahtm3.txt file! I didn’t like the way that WD appends its program information to the file so I had set it to read only. I guess the only questions at this point are why it reads it at startup, why that causes WD to fail to read so many of its other files as well since it has nothing to do with WD itself directly, and is there a way to remove the WD info from it (I have it elsewhere on my page) without having to make it read only?
Hi
its because wd adds to the end of that file the time that it starts up
but you can untick to do that, in the webfiles/web page setup, show the created at time
try that
see, i did say to you , that you must have a file set as read only…
that file error then makes the program jump out of that whole routine, and so lots of others setup lines of code are simplu missed out
anyway, its good you finally found it…
did you see i added option to use jpeg image, so that you dont have the poor quaility gif colour option?
see that option in the webfiles/web page setup
oh, looking at your web site, your colours are ok, with gif , now
i see you have set to show the long term averages on the summary image,.,
but i need to move to them to right a bit…
I set them down to 7 points and they still run together…
Also, I noticed that there is a problem with the time on the html data page. The am/pm hour (which is what it is set to) and 24 hour clock seem to be mixed:
LAST READING AT TIME: 22:30 DATE: July 21 2004 ,Time of next update: 10:40:00 PM
Tom
try setting the min and max temp font size smaller (and selecting red for max temp font colour) in the summary image and icon setup
title font
at the moment its
Kristen ITC
but it used to be a wild looking one ages back…
ms sans serif is the font to use, its much smaller in size
the time difference is due to lots of things:
windows regional settings time format, and other things in the way i have done the time formating
i have looked at ways of making sure they are the same format, but gave up…and figured, hey , surely people can read the 2 different formats easy enough…
but i guess not, huh
Yeah, that is what I am usiing… The different time formats is certainly no big deal, I just thought I’d point it out in case you weren’t aware of it…
