Feature Suggestions for Weather Display Live

Yes, I agree it is very good, and it looks very clean compared with the 'other similar application available'. I just dont want to see it ending up looking cheap. Like it is, it is streets ahead of the competition, and I would like to see it stay there. (I like to see the big companies put into the shade by people like Brian and Julian.) :D
I feel the same way about keeping WDL looking very clean.

An option to “Dress WDL up” as you like would be acceptable as long as I may keep it looking as it currently (beta) is.

Of course I always have the option not to upgrade WDL. 8)

This is about as far WDL should go as well…
People want to add other graphs, just add the WD graphic file to your web site
or have a link your weather underground and have them make graphs to the hearts content…

Julian has done a great job…cant suck up enough…it really has an excellent
feel and flow…I like the (SW)(S)(SSW) under the directional compass is neat as well…
Is it possible to get a raw number under Wind? instead of (average mph)???
Finally the weather icons work on…sometimes they show and sometimes they dont…but from reading here I understand why…

Comments about editing the drop down menu is a good idea as well…
maybe even having a listing in that menu to a web site you would like to open up or a popup webcam at your site you list…

Thanks Again,
I will promote it at my site…

Now you’re making me embarrassed   !

I think you’re correct in that there is a limit as to how much you can display in WDL. Ultimately I’d like to make it more user configurable (like the competition) but without the overheads and increased difficulty of the initial configuring that that may bring. It may not be possible and the best way forward is probably just to put as many options as possible into the config file. I’m sure I can add more options for different colours etc. Other possibilities are for improved functionality, for example, storing the unit settings as cookies so if a visitor to your site changes the units it will remember those units for their future visits.

My 2 cents:
i dont see any need to have option not to have drop down for the extra graphing …having that would just increase the size of the flash file…and it would take more time to load on slower Pc’s
i mean nothing much has changed: you click on graph, and you get the windspeed graph, just like before. Before you then had to click on a button to show the wind direction graph. Now you select that from a drop dwon. Easy as. I vote to not to bother putting as an option.

other config options, well, Julian, as long as it doesnt increase the time of loading the xml and .swf files too much on slow connections…just keep that in mind, thats all i say

Julian,

I see you also added the compass heading. How about degrees instead of the directions (i.e. SW). I know, it’s a work-in-progress.

All I can say is, it looks great!!. Of course, it would look better if the wind would start to blow. :laughing6:

Just another 2 Cents worth…

I think one of the very attractive features of WDL is that it is a simple un-clutterd interface. I mean no offence at all to the basic WD interface (which has so much more detailed information) its a personal thing I guess but to me WDL has a wonderful look and feel about it. I guess what I’m saying is please try and leave it as simple as possible, while providing some customisation.

We users don’t ask for much do we !

yes, WD , well, people wanted me to add this and add that…which is why i recommend Julian be a more picky than i was!

BUT in WD you can setup up your own custom screen, and have on it what you like only, where you like, and have that screen as the main screen too

Just had some feedback from my wd live page from a weatherlink 5.4 user:-"I like the graphics very much on this particular display - its neat, well designed but not too “in your face” as some can be. "

Keep up the good work Julian. :hello1:

Thanks Sean, version 1.04 should be ready soon.
