I’m not sure whether N-Wave is the network that I download the WxSim GFS data from. It sounds like it is. If so, that might be going missing soon.
So far, nothing mentioned on the change notices at NWS Service Change Notices
I would think that removals would warrant a Service Change Notice.
N-Wave is the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) network service provider and has been in operation since 2009.
Beyond that there is no complete definition that I can see of what it does/doesn’t support. You’d hope that change control principles were being used, but from the outside looking in it appears that many things are happening without anyone really understanding the impact of the changes.
This is 100% correct - chain saw approach with no analysis of ROI or impact.

Fingers crossed! So far, I haven’t received any notification of services being removed (I’m on the NOMADS list). Also, I follow climate data through NASA’s GISS and COVID, etc. data through the CDC, and those still seem to be pretty fully intact (I haven’t noticed anything missing). It’s worrisome, though. Hoping for the best.
I’m guessing N-Wave was a different NOAA network because GFS is currently still available.
Trying to learn what this is about, and whether or not it is to happen. I think the danger has passed for now, because the contract lapse (if I’m reading about the same thing) was supposed to be on April 4. One source I found said it (or some such service) was to be reviewed again in July. It does sound like there are significant cuts, including employees. I hope it turns out to be minimal. It’s unfortunate. So far it seems all the data are still there (at least things I access).
