The following error message occurred while attempting to run Weather Display after moving WD from a Windows 98SE OS to a Windows 2000 OS:
"Program error! WeatherD.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows.
There is a FAQ currently under development for just this subject, however it doesn’t specifically address moving from one OS to another…
One area that you may want to make sure you are doing…
On the new computer, look in C:\wdisplay\databackup for "wdisplayini" (it will say "configuration files"). Move that file from the databackup to the C:\windows folder. Note: Window XP & Windows 98 will be C:\windows - Windows 2000 will be C:\winnt.Then, still on the new computer, go back into the databackup folder. Find a file called “wdisplayftp” (it will say “registration entries”). Simply double click that file to execute the registry entries.
From just thinking about this I also wonder if it would be possible to move all the files to the new machine and then Install the same WD version on the new machine making sure it installs to the same directory as you have moved the files.
In any event I would keep a virgin copy of your files separately just in case…
Disclaimer: I have never moved an existing install from one OS to another so…

it could be a problem if you had wd linked to files/folders on the old pc that now do not exist on the new pc
try dowmnloading the latest version onto the new pc and then run and set up there the basics first
then exit and copy over the datafiles and logfiles folders, then restart and see how it goes, as a first test

its possible that if you used a CD to copy the files, they have become read only (right mouse click on some of the files and check the properties)
Ok I am trying to Move from XP to win 2000 I have red all the arcives and followed to the best of my computer skills But when I launch WD on new OS (win 2000) I get a promt to pay.
Any Ideas?
