Environmental Lapse Rate

Hi,

I’ve just been asked to add this to my weather site - anyone know if it’s possible ?

Something to do with humidity/height/air temp I think, used by our local paragliders …

B.

the ELR is how quickly the temperature changes with altitude… so you would need another reading at a higher altitude to get that number… so unless you are going to have another weather station a few hundred feet up in the air, it is a no go

Ah, that’s what I thought too.

There’s a theoretical lapse figure - for which there’s a formula … I wonder if this would be possible.

PS. Like the beard !

Uh, oh, how long will it be before “weather balloon” shows up on the WD station type list

Yes,

I’ve ordered some Helium and a very large ball of string ready for testing … not sure I want my vantage pro dropped from 1000m though

does the met office supply online upper air soundings?
