Hi Brian,
Is there a feature which displays meds for the Vantage Pro too? Could you also add a tag for displaying this?
Thanks a lot!
Hi Brian,

huh?
meds?
lol yes, meds. Just click the “UV” button on the vantage pro concole a second time and the meds are displayed. This is another value for UV where you can also calculate the risks for sunburn…
Here is the explanation from the Vantage Pro manual:
MED stands for Minimum Erythemal Dose, defined as the amount of sunlight exposure necessary to induce a barely perceptible redness of the skin within 24 hours after sun exposure. In other words, exposure to 1 MED will result in a redding of the skin. Because of the different skin types burn at different rates, 1 MED for persons with very dark skin is different from 1 MED for persons with very light skin.
Both the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Environment Canada have developed skin type categories correlating characteristics of skin with rates of sunburn.
These can be found in the Vantage Pro Console Manual or on the net.
hi
i have not got the calculation for MED, and so now WD displayes the time to get sunburnt (fair skin), under view, sunshine hours, evoptranspiration), based on the VP UV reading, in a new 10.24c zip version uploading now
Great Brian! Is there also a tag available?
I’ll take a look on how the MEDS are calculated and will let you know when I found something
Greetz,
Koen
looking at your web site, i see you have nexstorm
did you know that you can integrate that with WD and WDL for a real time (updates within seconds) lightning map??
also, i see you have a web cam…did you know that with wd you can create a all day mepg movie with a sinlge click of a button?
I know I can let WD check via Nexstorm when there are strikes by turning on the Flashgate IPC and that is what I use for the moment. How does it works with the maps in WD? I stopped a time ago with capturing my cam images by Wd because the cpu usage was too high when the cam was turned on. I use Kabcam for the moment which uses less CPU time. The big disavantage is that the temp, etc cannot be displayed by Kabcam.
The big disavantage is that the temp, etc cannot be displayed by Kabcam.you can used the 3rd party web cam setup in wd too still add those... yeah, the web cam component in wd for live streaming does use a whack of cpu, but for normal web cam use, it should be ok...?
the nexstorm integration works great wtih weather display live
Hi Brian,
I downloaded the new version but I can’t find the time to get sunburnt under view, sunshine hours, ET
my fault
i copied a label that was set to in visible #-o
i will get a new zip uploaded
I downloaded the latest version but still no label visible
Another minor thing a saw on the sunshine graph screen is the unit of the raw solar reading which is displayed in
What units/data are you getting for UV? Let me know and I’ll look into the MED conversion too.
note that you do need to have ticked, in the weathger station type setup, davis VP, that you have solar and UV
check that is ticked…
hmm, the problem is that I’m reading a csv-file in stationless mode created with VWS. Will it work in stationless mode too or can you make it work too like the rest you did?
still tick that setting though
does UV show elsewhere in wd?
why have vws as the data gatherer?
you could do it the other way around
its slowwer than WD for getting real time data from the console
When I tick that option under Davis and I use stationless I have no data and graphs anymore in the screen where Time to sunburn should be.
I used WD before to retrieve the data from the console but I expirienced certain problems and personally I find VWS handles the data better from the console, especially when there was a current break… Therefore WD didn’t “remember” the port on which the console was connected and I always had to set it manually when I started up WD. I put a message on this forum but the problem was never solved.
Greetz,
Koen
Therefore WD didn't "remember" the port on which the console was connected and I always had to set it manually when I started up WD. I put a message on this forum but the problem was never solved.very few people have this issue, hence no reponses to your email often its do with other software at windows boot up using the com port and or things like a ball point mouse being assigened to the com port in the windows device manager, etc
the data extraction from the vp console is now in ok, so your statement there is not true anymore in regards to that
i see you are very much a vws person now, there is not even a glimer of WD on your web site, and so the transformation is now complete i guess
but you still want me to get the sunburn time to work?
i will see if i can get to work if the data.csv file is in use
next vers update of wd should work for your setup
hope that is ok
Brian, don’t be so angry.
my apologies
i will get a tag added for the next zip update version
