Display Not Updating

I have used 3 different computers (all on my LAN), 3 different browsers, and they all do the same thing. If I bring up a browser and connect to my live site, the icon flashes green/yellow/red but nothing on the screen updates until the mouse moves over the screen. It doesn’t seem to matter if the browser has the focus or not, but the mouse pointer must pass over the WDL display. Has anyone else reported something similar? Have you seen this problem before?

I’ve never heard of anything like that at all. Is it the same browser on all machines? When the icon flashes red it means that WDL has successfully got new data so it would seem to imply that the program is working. If it’s not displayed then I would guess it could be something to do with your graphics setup. Do you have any other utilities running on your PC or other plug-ins for your browser?

I tried 3 different browsers, Mozilla Firefox, MSIE, and Netscape. Of the 3, MSIE is the best and updates appear to be working. The other 2 refuse to update the screen until the mouse-pointer scrolls across the screen. I see the icon flash green/yellow more than red, and I thought green was good…

I am still doing some testing and will let you know if I find anything. I thought I would post this and see if you or anyone else had run across this before…

The LED indications are -

Green - WDL working but not doing anything
Yellow - attempting to get new data - this should approximately correspond to refresh rate you’ve set in the config file
Red - successfully got new data

Ok, I will watch the icons to see what they show.

FWIW, ran mozilla up on my Linux box and WDL updates fine there…looks like it might be just Firefox and Netscape that display this behavior…

i can concur, FF here does this same strange behavour
as soon as you move the mouse, the missing updates all happen at once
its like the flash movie is being cached…
maybe not something worth loosing any sleep over Julian as it must be a FF thing and something you cant do anything about.,…

I’ve just tried it here in FF and can’t reproduce it. Does the time update on new data?

Julian

I can duplicate it here on any of my computers and with anyones WDL site.

To dupe, FF must be the only program window being displayed on my screen, and, WDL must be the only tab open in FF, and, for testing, FF must not use up all of the available desktop space.

I run FF, then type in the URL to my WDL page, and then move the mouse (and focus if you want but it will still dupe) pointer outside of the FF display. What I see is 3 green blips of the icon, then one yellow, then repeat.

When the data does update (by moving the mouse thru the WDL display) so does the clock.

Other variations of screen displays may work, but I know this series of events is repeatable here.

I concur…(FF or netscape 7.x)
