Davis VP data extraction at start up...works great

ta da!
now all i have to do is implement the use the last known good value if the data is missing (like Peter has seen), and its all good as gold
now if only i could get http://www.weathertools.com to sell WD for me

I have just pulled the data from my test logger, and the solar data is an exact duplicate of what really happened!

Well done super star!

I installed 10.13k to test. Where are you looking at the downloaded data?

Does your solar graph redraw correctly after a restart? Mine loses the part of the curve before the restart (flatlines) and starts again with a vertical line from zero to the current value and starts plotting again.

I have not had this problem with the graphing. the logger starts exactly where the downloaded data stops, and the graph carries on too, with no joins.

I checked the data in the 62004vantagelog.txt file on my normal system, and test system, and the solar data was exactly the same.

Are you getting a spike because you lost a couple of minutes data I wonder?

Peter reported a similar problem I think.

stephen, have a check of the raw data in the vptemplog.txt, data position 18 and 19
and see how it looks there,…you might have had it like peter, where it was not being stored, and was being stored as 255’s (null)

Good news, I tried it again and it worked prefectly this time. If you look at the graph there’s a major discontinuity (I see now it’s not only in the solar) just before 8:00 which was the first try, but it’s fine during the second shutdown which was from 11:45 to 12:20

good stuff
its been along time that i did not have that correct
but i was only 1 data point wrong…
i am still to put in, use the last known good value…if the data does not have solar coming through, like peter noticed

Yeah, I have the same problem with my solar graph and have had for many versions (I use raw numbers rather than percent since the precet jumpa all over the place in the morning and evening, making ir rather impossible to read). All the data before the WD startup point is lost on the main WD screen.

I also still have a problem with spikes all over my vprealtimegraph.gif graph for Solar, UV and ET every time I restart WD.

My 10.13k only messed up one time. Seeing your post I tested again this morning, about 9:45 I shut down for about 20 mins so it read the archive when restarted, and then about 10:30 I shut down and restarted within a minute so that it didn’t use the archive. As you see below my solar and other graphs are fine.

what about the vp real time solar graph nikoshepard?
also, tom, are you using the jpg image option?
i added that (and it took alot of work) for people who have problems with the gif colours due to problems with their grpahics driver/cards etc
also, 10.13L stores the last known good solar value, and it will use that if the solar reading is at any time null in the raw data (note that will not work for the first time exit of that new beta version)

No, I’m still using gifs at this point because of the smaller file size and because, frankly, I haven’t had the chance yet to go in and change all my html code to reflect it. I’m currently using k so I’ll see if L is any different…

most of the code change wil be auto, if you are using the default wd page system (and datahtm2.txt if you have set for you to control that), and any links you have in datahtm3.txt
but if you are using the customise internet and file creation setup, then the remote name extensions will need changing

and you can set the jpg quaility lower do the file size is less

, just a fyi,my solar sensor i ordered has not arrived yet

We could have sent a solar sensor over from the UK quicker!!

do you have problems with your vp uv solar graph after the data extra IWW?
I could work with you and get it fixed (i.e by using the vptemplog), if its not working correctly.

what about the vp real time solar graph nikoshepard?
I'm not usually by the machine to look at the actual program  Here's what I have, the solar looks Ok but I'm not sure what's going on with those blue/green vertical lines. I don't have UV

in the weather station , davis vp optional accessories, tick, just solar only
try that
and make sure the other extra sensors are set to No, if you dont have them

so, its good news you solar plot is ok after a data extraction
tom, any url links, images, so i can have a look?
(i.e the more information I have the better )

i ordered a solar sensor on the 10 june
thats over 3 weeks ago now :frowning:

How are the options supposed to be set for VP solar only? Do I check

solar/uv = Y + solar only = Y

or

solar/uv = N + solar only = Y

When I checked Y for the ā€œsolar onlyā€ option the N didn’t uncheck and I had to restart WD and reselect VP/19200 to get the data flowing again so there may be some incompatible possibilities on the menu.

solar/uv = Y + solar only = Y
should be the correct combo
i will do some testing …

Brian,

in the 10.13n still the solar and ET goes to zero at the vantagelog.txt, if they didn`t change, sorry!

Peter

solar/uv = Y + solar only = Y should be the correct combo i will do some testing ....
I got that combo working now. I'll post the graph at the end of the day, looks better so far...

Looks good now.
