Hi… Im confused, again.
On my website I have the WDL page and a table with XML data. One of the values I display in the XML table is Monthly Max’s for wind speed and gust. Today we have had our first autumn blow. WDL says max gust was 34.1. XML says 34.5 (mph) the XML tag used is .
The records page in WDL says max gust is 34.1.
I went looking in WD ( I would agree I am not the most experienced user of it but hey ho here is what I found).
the Graph History screen gives max gust of 34.5 (twice in fact within 5 mins of each other)
All time records says 34.0
The 3D graph says 4.47615432739258 (kts) when hovering pointer over today.
the max gust displayed on my VP says 34 but I am not sure it can display decimal points for wind so this may not be of any use.
I am not being nit picky but if we are to record such things then it would follow that something like a record value should agree with itself from whatever point in the system that value is viewed.
alot of that is becuase of rounding with units
you are being nitpicky
i mean an anenometer on a personal weather station is not all that accurate, and showing a decimal place is a waste of time, and so then worrying about 0.4 becuase of math rounding inside the program…well…i wouldnt worry about it
I would agree with you there. I sail a lot and of course use the beaufort scale all the time. Unfortunately the majority of people who will view my page have no concept of a knot !
and the media often get kmh and knots mixed up
kmh is nearly double knots…and yet they say kmh when they should said knots…
i.e a hurricane with 80kmh winds…
