Comparing entry level weather stations

I’ve never built anything to do with a weather station but am looking at doing so now. I’m a waterskier so I want to be able to monitor things like temp & wind from work (so I can see what I’m missing out on). I’ve built PCs for years, cabled 2 of my homes, built a DVR computer & setup VOIP at home so this kind of thing should be right up my alley.
Looking thru this forum & various other websites it looks like Davis is the way to go. But it’s a bit more than I want to spend on my first system. So I’ve narrowed it down to two, the LaCrosse WS-2315 & the Peet Brothers Ultimeter100.
I’d like the system to update a web page (so I can monitor it from work) with air temp, wind direction & speed, etc. I’d like it to do forcasting (I assume WD does this), measure rainfall, etc.
So which of these two are the way to go? I understand the LaCrosse has 3 min. intervals it doesn’t record wind which means I’d miss the gusts. Does the Peet Bros. do any better? Or is there another one I should consider?
Thanks for your suggestions…

the 2310 is updated every 6 seconds if wired, in WD
the 3 minute update applies to the 2010-13 type data logger
the dallas 1 wire gives temp/wind/dir for only $75 US, and you can add other temperature sensors to it cheaply

The WS-2315 should work fine for what you want. Like Windy said, when in wired mode, it updates every 6 seconds - wireless updates are less frequent but make installation very easy. I will be graduating to the Vantage Pro when funds permit.

Take a look at my site. In the left menu, hit “weather station works” - I have a few photos and description of the WS-2310.
Also look at “weather details” - this page is showing just the basic Weather Display web page. The software is very sophisticated - it can do so much more.

Also (sorry Brian), the WS-2310 comes with it’s own software called “Heavy Weather”. With Heavy Weather, you can also use a very basic weather upload program called “Heavy Weather Publisher” which will upload just a simple page to your site which is free.
