Clientrawrealtimeftp.exe Questions

  1. How do I stop it to update the settings? It doesn’t shut down with WD, even if I kill it in Task Manager it stays in the tray and seems to keep running.

  2. Is there an error/log file?

  3. I’m having trouble getting the file to the correct directory. The dir is wdlm, do I need “/wdlm” or “/wdlm/” or just “wdlm” in the directory box?

Running W2K + 10.16u

hi
settings changes in wd should get picked up by the separate cleint raw ftp program at the next minute…
directory:
no need for the / at the begining…but one at the end my or may not be needed…
shut down
it should do after a minute or so once you have exited wd…

Is it possible the settings don't update until the next scheduled web page update?

Hmm, I did a clean install on another machine (I'm not having much luck getting this bit running correctly - a lot to do with my hosting I think) and it's still in the tray and ftp'ing (or maybe attempting to ftp) 45 minutes after WD has been shut down.

ahh…i must have taken out that shut down…becuase wd now checks for it running…and does not start a new one if its already running…when wd starts up…so if you are only shutting down wd for a short period…the real time ftp ill keep ftping the latest data…and when you restart wd the data is then up to date…thought that would be ok

I think that’s OK in normal use. How about adding a shut down option with a right click on the tray icon?

double click the icon, to make the program visible
then click on the X to close the program
works for me

Darn, wrong click

Is it possible it doesn’t like an ftp server that takes 6-7 seconds to process a login?

maybe i need to add a abort button?

No, the double click does it, ya just have to know…

I can make it work with one ftp server, but not the one I want it to work with  The one that doesn’t work is slow to login, and I have had a lot of trouble with directory paths, but I’ll get there in the end I’m sure.

Anyway, I’m off to struggle with fixing the sprinklers for a change.

OK, fueled by a sniff of PVC pipe cement I’m making progress. On the test system I figured out the directories, seems that there are 2 alternate naming systems and some ftp client see one, and some see the other.

On the production system I’m getting what looks like a winsock error “ERROR: 11004: [11004] Valid name, no data record (check DNS setup) at time/date 16:09:16 9/12/2004”
