Changing FTP host, now fails to upload

Hi, this seems real dumb, but I’m perplexed
My current ftp host (Lycos) appears to have gone out of business, so I’m having to change my ftp host website.
I now have an account on 50webs.com, so I replaced all my ftp details on Wd with the new ftp host details, and I cannot ftp anything, it fails with the log showing:
list of files uploaded*
actual messages from upload session*
Start Time/date:21:28:36 12/03/2009
Permanent connection selected
Permanent connection, will do ftp now
Finshed email agenda
Finshed email agenda, and more Internet agenda items to do (FTP)…
Time/date:21:28:37 12/03/2009
Logging onto FTP server…ftp://pooleweather.50webs.com
11004: [11004] Valid name, no data record (check DNS setup)
Connecting to FTP server.
102: The RemoteHost address is invalid (0.0.0.0).

Changing Directory to /pooleweather.50webs.com
Doing abort procedure/program close…
Clearly it shows it cannot recognize the host, and yet I’ve run cute ftp, that works with the same parameters.
I can type ftp://pooleweather.50webs.com into a browser and locate my home page, what am I missing here.
I know it’s not release related as nothing changed but the host, but I am running 10.37N Build 20
Many thanks for any assistance

Regards
Quentin

Quenton,

They should have provided you with FTP Host name and ftp:// generally isn’t a valid FTP host name

Try just pooleweather.50webs.com (also make sure they provide true FTP access)

Right! pooleweather.50webs.com should work (there is an FTP server response there).

its a common mistake to add ftp:// ,to the start of the FTP server address, which is not to be used

Gents, thank you for your timely response.
Correct removing the ftp has resolved my problem.
Thanks for your guidance.

best regards
Quentin
