I tried to get an AAG barometer to work with my AAG weather station but it would not give any new readings after the first one. So I removed the barometer hardware and then I went into the the WS 1-wire setup to barometer setup and clicked off the barometer. Now when I start up WD, the barometer label and reading are not on the main screen for 3 to 30 seconds or so and then the barometer label and reading pop up on the main screen and the WD program stops reading the sensors and the “counter” under the main screen clock stops counting. Before the lock-up, the other readings (temp, wind etc.) are reading and updating perfectly. Any ideas on how I can get rid of barometer reading/label? I am assumming that has something to do with WD not reading the sensors anymore. WD acts like it is stuck waiting for an “input”. I can still navigate in the WD program but WD will not update any sensors readings.
I am running 10.20t (updated from 10.20i to see if that would help. Didn’t). I also ran the One Wire Viewer Application program and it reads the sensors on the network just fine. Hmm. HELP Mick
with the aag baro, try running the aag baro program, to reset the barometer
then it should work
but, otherwise, make sure you have both barometer settings unticked in the dallas 1 wire setup, then restart wd
Hi Brian, both baros were “unticked” and I ran the “reset AAG baro” again, but no luck. I restarting WD, for 3 to 38 seconds later WD reads and updates the network sensors perfectly, then adds the baro label and an old baro reading to the WD main page, the graph updates, and the sensor data and “counter” lock up. Is WD still trying to find a barometer reading or something and locking up waiting for input? (it is really starting to get cold here, + 4 F and windy, think I’ll stay inside for awhile) Mick
in the dallas 1 wire setup, does it say , running aag baro now, or similar?
No. The ID rom window has only the ID ROM list for the sensors (it is not running the AAG program, or at least not listing readings). Before I unticked it, it was running the AAG program OK, but the reading would not change with a change in baro pressure. I have restarting WD about 5 times in 2 hours while trying to get this fixed, but all the graph readings are flatlined. I wonder if it is locking-up when it tries to update the graph? WD is “running” as I can go into the program pages and change settings but there is no new data being received from the network after the lock-up.
it might be some bad data or similar, yes…
the aag baro should update, i.e change readings, but others have found they had to reset it with the aag program
try:
install wd to a new location
then create a file there called 2wd.txt
then start wd there
it should start up like brand new
as a test
and set up the basics
I installed a new download 10.20v into a new location on the hard drive to a folder on the same “level” as the Program Files called WDtest (the old program is in the Program Files). Then I created a folder inside WDtest called 2ws.txt and started the “new” WD from the “new” WD icon from with in the WDtest folder. When it started up WD picked up the old settings from the old WD program (and bad data I suppose) and locked up. So I deleted the folder 2ws.txt and created a file called 2ws.txt within the WDtest folder. And rebooted the computer and started up the “new” WD and it picked up the old data and put it on the main screen, graphs and all, then locked up. Mick
I really don’t have any good data for the last 6 months. Can I erase the data logs that might have the bad data and start again? I would like to keep my record high/low stuff, but as I recall, that is in a different file. Mick (chilly in Montana)
if you have created the 2wd.txt file correctly, and have it in that new location, then wd will start up with no settings,. like brand new
maybe you have a file called 2wd.txt.txt
(i.e in your windows folder options, untick hide known file extensions)
i.e just save a file with notepac.exe called 2wd
(and notepad will add on the .txt file extension)
YES! YES! YEEEEEEESSSSS! It works great on the new program. THANK YOU BRIAN!!! And you were correct. I made a “2wd.txt.txt” Using WIN2000 and fixed the file and it worked right away. Should I transfer the new data file to the old program or shall I reconfigure this new program? If I use the new program, I guess I just need to manually enter in the extremes etc but I also have to do the FTP stuff to get the web page going etc. Mick
I decided to use the “new” WD program and put in all my settings on this clean install. It was working great for 90 minutes or so. I then started inputting the Internet setup pages into to 1. download the metar from noaa and 2. set up the uploads to my weather station web page. When I went back to the WD main page it promply locked up just as the “old” program was doing. The baro label and boxes showed up on the screen also, but I had not ticked it on the 1-wire baro page (I didn’t even go to that page) and there is no baro hardware attached to the 1-wire network. Hmm Mick
I used the instructions in WEATHER DISPLAY HELP, “2.6 Deleting all data and starting again” and got 10.20v (the new WD program) running again. The ROM ID’s were still in there after the file deletions and WD is working great. All the FTP and web page stuff is blank. Any suggestions as what to do next? I was thinking about putting in the FTP/web stuff one item at a time to try to figure out what is goofing up WD. My hunch is something to do with the metar download (just a guess). Mick (it’s still real cold here but the wind chill went from -30 F last night to -5 F this morning).
