How can I format my weather data using the new live Flash version to be compatible with my meteorologist friends at WTOC-TV in Savannah, GA, USA? They’re using live weather stations from weathermetrics.com now.
Any ideas?

Sorry, not sure I quite understand the question. Are you saying you want WD to export data in a format that weathermetrics systems can understand or are you saying you want WDL to read weathermetrics feed?
Julian
I’d like for weathermetrics to be able to read WDL feed.

Ah OK. WDL gets its data from the clientraw file from WD. If you know the format of data required by weathermetrics, drop Brian an email - I’m sure he’ll be able to come up with something!
Julian
Julian, thanks for the info. My friends at WTOC-TV are checking in to it now and I should have an answer sometime today.
Thanks!

hi
using the custom screens in WD, you can get WD to create graphics just like weathermetrics!
i.e you can have data sourced from other weather stations, like WU, CWOP, Metar, and other WD users data (i.e clientraw.txt), oer your own stations data, using the custom tags (liek the mesomap custom tags)and have that data update every 2 seconds (or as fast or slow as you like) while you watch that screen, and even have wd save that screen as a gif…
there are 10 custom screens you can setup
and you can even set up a slide show, and set which custom screens to appear in the slide show…
contact Greg Potter for info on that:

as there is already a TV station setting up and doing just that
Hey. This is the response from the meteorologist in Savannah, GA, USA:
“I don’t think it would work. The data is encrypted and goes first to
Kansas City into the WEATHER METRIC’s Computer. From there it is
encoded and then sent back to our computer here in Savannah with another packet sent to our server for Internet distribution. The Internet
program then encodes that data for display. I believe it is all set so
that no other product can be incorporated into their system for that
very reason … to keep it THEIR’S. The only way we would get
Springfield on the net is to put up a WEATHER METRICS system there. The main cost is the communication fee since a cell phone is constantly
connected to KC. The actual station is somewhere in the vicinity of $6K
each.
Sincerely,
Patrick Prokop
Senior Meteorologist”
Any other ideas???
