Brian

Can you add the wind chill and heat index to the client raw.txt file? Thanks a bunch. Greg

Brian,
Can you add daily high and low as well as wind chill or heat index to the clientraw.txt file?

i have added winchill and humidex now greg, in ver s9.88b

Thanks a million. Did you dee the second part of the email where I need daily high and low as well. Thanks for the additions.

why do you want those?
if you have a program that uses the client raw data, then you could get it to store/calculate those values

… I wrote an asp page that uses the data in the clientraw.txt file. So when a user calls this asp page its a one time deal the data is displayed in their browser and then its gone. Its not that big of a deal I could just leave out this data.

I’m trying to duplicate the data that is displayed when a person goes to one of these sites:

http://www.aws.com/aws_2001/asp/single_site.asp?id=NALSC

i will add it for you, no big deal for me to do that
what you are doing sounds good!
what is the url?

When I’m through with it I’ll send you a copy. I’m designing it to be used with the client raw.txt file and hosted on a persons personal server. Its SVG based (Scalable Vector Graphics). Its a relatively new web graphs standard that will do everything flash will do but is much easier to learn. Its XML based and this makes the code easy to read. It does require a plugin to be loaded to the browser and it’s free from Adobe.

http://www.adobe.com/svg/viewer/install/

If you download this you can try what I have so far on the URL:

greg, i am really impressed!!
IE is not using any CPU, unlike a macromedia flash site (like a VWS weather flash site), that uses 99% CPU when you are viewing it!
Greg, if you can make this a feature that can be added to WD, then I will pay you a royality!

You give me a royalty every time you give me a new update of WD. The only thing that worries me is the fact that I’m using their background. Given enough time the data can be “overlaid” on any background. I’m going to attempt to add more information like solar data and any thing else we need on there. If you have any suggestions let me know.

I’ve never seen VWS weather flash. If you send me a link or a way to view it we could make something look “similar” to their interface. Greg

Also do you have an updated clientraw.txt description file. I can seem to locate the windchill/heat index value. Thanks Greg

i updated the description in the latest download…
they are just tagged on the end (oC units)http://www.lighthouseweather.com/index2.htm
is a good flash site

bogs down the pc…

they are very confiruable, these flash sites though

update:
my web cam came back on the hourly main update…(i.e when I have my summary.gif file is updated), and then promptly disappeared at the next minute (i.e the image for the web page is OK)

Greg,

That is really “WOW!!!”

Continue the good work !

Can you add daily high and low as well as wind chill or heat index to the clientraw.txt file?

greg, what did you require?
daily hi/lo for wind chill and heat index?

Brian,
I needed the daily high temperature as well as daily low temperature. To go into that high and low beside the thermometer.

Also when I look at the clientraw.txt file there are 3 entries after the last battery reading? Can you straighten me out on what is what? Thanks a million. Greg

PS I had a look at that flash site and man that looks real good. After I complete this small project that’s my next goal.

there should only be the 2 values after the battery readings
maybe you have a battery reading!
i will add the daily hi/lo temperature for you

yes, a way to customise this real time output would be good, but not a necissity

Here’s my current clientraw.txt file have a look?

http://12.219.146.15:8000/weatherpage/clientraw.txt?

not sure greg, i have no idea
dont worry about it
the humidex and heat index are the numbers before that (i.e
heat index, then humidex, then a 9 ?
its not doing this for me

i will add the daily hi/lo station temperature for you now

Cool. Thanks. I hate to have to ask this but what is the difference between heat index, then humidex? It seems if I convert the heat index to degrees F it equals the humidex. Thanks for all the additions and we’ll decide how you want to deliver this in the future.

grab a new 9.88d, it has the daily max/min outdoor temperature now
there was another thread on humidex./…
i look forward to being able to have this implemented in wd greg
a web based real time viewer like this for wd is something that will be great (and be an alternative to wflash), and of course it wont cost anything more!
(but people will need a permanent internet connection)
will it be able to run on a normal ISP server?
