BETA: WS2310 history retrieval: i need testers

In a new vers 9.79, ready now
go to setup, data logger setup, to enable
you can force it to get data from so many minutes ago, to test…
BUT
i would install this vers to a new directory
then create a file there called 2wd.txt
(make sure it is not 2wd.txt.txt, i.e untick hide known file extensions in the folder options under the folder tools)

and then let me know how the data looks (i am not sure if have wind speed and direction correct, as my station is set up in the room here,…(.

Just noticed I ran it in the existing WD directory by mistake. Made a mess and forgot all my settings. Reinstalled and all is well now. I will try the datalogger after dinner in a seperate directory as you suggested. :slight_smile:

the 2wd.txt file is just a flag file to tell WD to setup as brand now, (you will have to select the com port, weather station type all over again) so you data is not upset…and nothing gets logged to it, but the log files and graphs should get populated with the data from the ws2310

it is working for me, but I dont have a temp/hum sensor at the moment (someone borrowed it), and the anenometer is only sitting inside…

Hi Brian,

Same error message as before. I set the station type as soon as possible after startup then turned the logger on. It says “com port OK” at the top of the screen.

It appears to be doing something as the data light stays on constant (green) with the quality light (also green) but after about a minute I get the error messages. The error message repeats several times. No files were updated. except :

We’re getting there. The latest 979 version started right up and started gathering the real time data. I’m using the wired version so that is updated every 8 seconds or so.

Turned on the datalogger and set to 30 minutes to retrieve. The gathering bar started filling as well as the % complete.

When I returned to the main screen, all real time values looked correct except outdoor temp which was 1.6F. I let it run another 5 minutes with no change. It’s a calm day so not much was changing on the display. The outdoor temp stayed at 1.6F.

I checked the real time graphs screen but it only had the 10 minutes I was up and running. The same for the graphs on the main screen. No histroy showing. The files in the log directory only showed the 10 minutes I was running, not the history.

The program error log has the following entries :

(knots), or should it be 1 knot?

and where it says formating data, but no raw data is displayed, then it didnt like what it saw,…

so, 10 minutes of the 30 minutes you requested was retrieved?
is the history interval set a 1 minute?
i have that working in wd now

i think i need to find the position of the last data record, and then work back from there, and then it will be good to go

oh and the info on how to do this was gathered by a group of very talented europeans…and i would like to thanks them

Interval is set to 1 minute. It only recorded the real time data while I had WD running for about 10 minutes. It appears it didn’t collect any history. There wasn’t any wind at the time so .1 looks about right.

after spending a wet day on this,and with a fan to blow the windspeed, and not that i have the temp/hum sensor back, i have it working very well now!
i have winspeed and direction perfected
i have the data position and wrap around perfected
i have it starting up OK
and i have added a start up check to the normal ws2310 routine too

its been a long road

but the rain gauge i have here is not working…so i cant test the rain
so i need help with that (i.e the raw data from view, program error log, after a data extraction that includes rain)

Success !

It imported the history data correctly :). The graphs on the main WD display updated with the past 30 minutes and the daily log file looks correct.

However (you knew that was coming) the real time graphs updated the historical data as every 5 seconds instead of every 60 seconds. It recorded 12:15:20 then 12:15:25 then 12:15:30 ect. The data is all there it is just compressed into a couple of minutes according to the graph.

Again the main WD console charts look correct. It is just the real time graphs that have a glitch.

I’ll try the rain data after work today and send you the info you requested.

I tried 979c while it was raining (1/8"+ per hour). I retrieved 30 minutes of data. All data loaded OK except the rain. No rain showed up on either the console graphs nor the real time graphs. However the program error log listed rain as a constant 54.9. I listed the 2 minutes of the error log file below.

Also the 2wd.txt file no longer resets the data. Data from yesterday as well as the correct com port and station type were correct at start-up.

Excuse the newbie question but where is the raw data ? Is it one of the *.inf files in the data folder?
