I had a problem in the last week of August where I had to change the clock on the PC after it had somehow gained a couple of hours. Upon restarting WD it kept adding some rainfall (in Last Minute and hence rolled up through all the others). After a few restarts and trying to correct it, it kept adding more.
Now that August is over I have easily corrected my CSV log in Excel, the 82004lg.txt will take somewhat longer but is possible.
Anyway, lets say I get my 82004lg.txt corrected which will be good for using the Averages view in WD. How best to update my Rain Year to Date in 92003lg.txt? I am loathe to manually edit whilst WD is still using it as this seemed to cause problems last time (I did stop WD whilst editing).
A couple of related points:
In the View → Averages screen. On the right in the daily summaries for the day I tried to correct, the rainfall appears. On the left which lists days with rain it doesn’t. How does the days with rain get populated?
Any reccomendations on how to edit log files apart from manually in notepad replacing numbers? Excel wont seem to create a .txt that WD will like, plus you can’t use a space delimited file as data doesn’t have leading zeroes added but spaces.
rain to date:
try via control panel, barometer offset, rainfall and other offsets
then you can set the rain totals (and click on set for each), then click on yes to save settings
but also, and first back up the log file, go to view, averages/extreme, and then click on correct the data
and there you can enter in new values for rain for each day (mm)…and that reset/sets the last total rain for the day for that day (just before midnight)
I know this is an old topic, but are the steps still the same? This is unrelated to the problem of mine you are working on.
If for instance it rains .001" and the equipment doesn’t report it but I want to acknowledge it rained that day/time. Is there a screen or way to manually enter .001" at 4:30pm and have it reflected in the stats, counts, and graphs?
I tried to manually correct the 8" error but what I thought I was changing didn’t get changed?
I actually tried that screen to manually enter .001 on 7/4 when the weather station didn’t do what it needed to record and send the rain to WD. I think when working on my 8" problem I found a reading of .001 for the day, however it didn’t change the “last rain” date or other things?
The other issue I had today was the rain actually started at 4:30pm but there volume didn’t increase enough to start getting measured until 45 minutes later. When the rain first started I wanted to enter .001 to show that even if the weather station wasn’t reporting rain, I wanted the site to reflect it was currently raining.
