i am uploading a new 10.23c zip now where it will use the max gust line (should do in theory)
I’ll give this new version a try as soon as I get home from work in a few hours.
Another thing to look at is a problem you can see with the humidity, temperature and dew point… plus the wind never drops back to zero. Hmmmm, I’ll leave the data on the site that has been collected over the last 8-9 hours and install the new version to see what we are getting. (I won’t erase the database before installing the latest version you posted)
Take a look at http://nurcacwx.qrq.com to see the problems I’m describing above. You can also compare the charts to findu.com where the graphs look good.
This is really going to be nice once every thing is working.

the DP is calculated from the temperature and the humidity…
when that step up in temperature is occuring, let me know…so i can pull the data and find out why
it sort of looks like it does it at a certain temperature…
The temperature went goofy, which caused the DP to go wacky. You can see the the problem on the graph at http://nurcacwx.qrq.com the findu.com charts look good for the same data.

Brian, I think I know where the spikes are coming from… it’s when I restart WD. It’s showing default data and storing it before it makes the first request to findu.com. This appears to be the problem. Can you make it so it won’t store or use any data until the first valid request comes back from findu.com? If you look right now, you can see a spike in the data, this happened when I restarted WD. Hmmmm, there may be something else going on here too, because I have seen spikes show up after it’s been running too.

Brian, it’s getting closer, the wind gust appears to be working now, but the colors are backwards in the graph??? Red should be on the top for the gust and the current wind speed should be blue. Something is backwards. Take a look: http://nurcacwx.qrq.com

it looks like the temperature spike is around 50oF
not sure why at this stage yet…i really need to get a sample of that data
for the average speed problem, I will check on that now…
Brian, I just downloaded and installed the latest zip file build as of the time I posted this message. Before I ran the new version, you can see on http://nurcacwx.qrq.com that the wind spiked way up for some reason. It’s looking okay now after installing and running the latest zip build.
However, the Wind gust and wind speed appear to still be backwards… blue is on the top and red is on the bottom. Have you had a chance to look at this?
I’ll continue to let it run so that you can see the spiked data and how it dropped back to normal after installing and restarting the new version.

what I will do is run it here, getting the data, and log it, and then when there is spikes, i will be able to check in the log why
I will also check to see why the max gust and average seem to be around the wrong way

i had got a bit confused with the windspeeds…i was thinking current was max gust…
so i have them swapped around now
also, what i will do is have the raw data logged in the program (under view, ws2010/ws2500 data setup), with the time stamp of that data record, so i can see the raw value at the time of the spikes
but, though I will try something else re the spikes…it might be that i just need to fill up an array of the current data correclty
Sounds good Brian. So you will use Field #1 as the max gust and Field #13 as the current wind speed. Also, how often are you checking for an update? 30 seconds or so? Another problem I’m seeing is that the wind never goes to 0 mph. If you compare with the findu.com charts, you can see that the wind is 0 mph some of the time. Something is wrong with the wind when 0 mph is reported in #Field 13.
Should we continue on with this thread, or would it be easier to just send email direct at this point? It’s really getting close now. If we can get rid of those spikes, I think I’ll go live with it.
One other suggestion is that the check box descriptions are confusing when you turn this feature on. Maybe change the Peet Bros option check box text to ‘Use Peet Bros !! Format’ and ‘Use Peet $ULTW Format’. Both formats are in hex, so what you have now is kind of confusing. I’m also assuming that you can only have one of those options selected at a time.

Might be a good idea to keep the chatter here so it can be parsed into a FAQ at some point in the future. There is a lot of history behind the feature that others traveling down the same path would probably find useful. Just my take on the whole thing. I enjoy watching the progress of this thread as I may try something similar…

so where you see a blip, post that here (for that time period (it inlcudes the hour and minute in that raw data log)
The data is below, the Hour and min are the same. You should be able to compare to the spikes you are seeing on http://nurcacwx.qrq.com I started this run with a clean database. WD is not running now, so the data should match what you see in the latest chart on the nurcacwx.qrq.com site.
Brian, does this help? It looks like the spikes show up when there is a gap with missing data. The data at findu.com is only updating about every 4 minutes and 50 seconds.
