Alternative Dashboard Script Released (Ver 5.03 FINAL RELEASE)

Scott
Thanks. All is well now and looking good  The NWS section looks good in both IE and Firefox see http://frankpinkston.com/weather/fcp_wx_main_3.php

How did you fix the font size on the word “LOW” in teh NWS section? That drove me crazy

I appreciate your help on Labor Day. I think we should take the remainder of the day off and enjoy the fruits of labor.

Frank

Great! The text size issue really confused me but after looking at the code it appears that on some systems (it never did it on mine) the tage caused the text size to revert to the normal size. I added the text size to the of each of the sections and now it works. I don’t know why it did that and only in that section. Strange but it’s fixed now!

VERSION 4.10 BETA 2 ready for testing
NOTE: VERSION 4 and later REQUIRES YOU TO BE RUNNING VERSION 1.10 of the Ajax-Dashboard from Ken True!

This new version contains the following changes and additions:

  • Added in support for Automatic Snow Season Display. (You pick start and end months)
  • Added full support for NexStorm count tags and the Distance and Bearing tags
  • Reformatted the snow measurement to 0.00 format (it was 3 decimal places)
  • Reformatted the ET measurements to 0.00 format (it was 3 decimal places)
  • Added last rain tip to display when it is not raining
  • Removed VPstorm and Rain Rate tags when it’s not raining (made room for last tip date/time)
  • Removed Solar Noon tag as it wasn’t working
  • Moved the very small info line for Icon and VP Status under All Time Records
  • Cleaned up some code and formatting
  • Added NWS normal readings for the day
  • Added support for the OPTIONAL Rainer’s Cloud Base Image (you must have installed the Cloud Base script first)

I’ve validated the code and have been testing it as much as I can here. It is now ready for beta testing. If you want to test it, you can download the package at: www.websterweatherlive.com/downloads/Ajax-DashboardALT_WWL410b.zip

Be sure to read the instructions! There are a number of config changes at the top of the code and you will need to replace your ajax-dashboard.php and ajaxWDwx.js files. You will also need to add a few tags to testtags.txt if you have NexStorm.

Scott

Scott,

Your beta 2 is looking FANTASTIC, thanks for adding Rainer’s cloud base. You can see mine here…

Thanks for your hard work.
Dennis

Looks good, thanks!

Scott

Hi guys,
i don’t know why my current weather icon is small!
How to enlarge it?
Thanks,

Alessandro

Looking at your home page, it doesn’t look like you’re using the alternative dashboard script. That larger icon is part of my script and is not available in the original.

Scott

Hi Scott,
i know, i know but when i upload the alternative dashboard (i’m using the original at the moment) the current weather icon is small instead of large.
Why?
Thanks,

Alessandro

Will the choice to not use the cloud graphic keep the outlook as in the previous ver?

Yes, if you aren’t using the cloud base graphic, the display will be the outlook as before. I’m trying to figure out a good way to move the items in the colum around as the sizes for each are quite different and the effects on the rows will be large.

Scott

Do you have the larger graphics and does it start out large then switch to small? By default, if you use the alternative dashboard and the alternative ajaxWDwx.js you should be getting the large images. (even if you don’t have the large images upload, it should still stretch the images to the larger size) The only way it would revert to small size is if you didn’t have the new ajaxWDwx.js file in place.

Scott

Thanks Scott.

I’ve tried to download the new beta 4.10 and i keep getting 4.0. Version 4.00 - 12-Jul-2009

Ive tried this link…

www.websterweatherlive.com/downloads/Ajax-DashboardALT_WWL410b.zip

and the normal link on your site, but both the same version for me.

update: I got the script from the php view source off of your page.

I just downloaded the link above and it gives me the 4.10 beta 2 file dated 9/7/09?

Scott

hmm…Not sure. I tried 2 or 3 times and even re-booted and still got v4.0

The source from your page worked though, so its all good. Thanks.

Hi guys,
i don’t manage to translate the moonphase in the alternative dashboard script.
My testtags.php show me this code:

$moonphasename = 'Waning Gibbous Moon'; // 10.36z addition

My translation in language-it.txt file is:

langlookup|Waning Gibbous Moon|Luna Calante|

Why alternative-dashboard doesn’t translate these words correctly?
The native code about original and alternative dashboard php file should be the same!

Edit: 22.01: Please, look at the attachment, is it possibile to do like the image?

Thanks in avance,

Alessandro

The outside now part I can do if that column will not show snow or ET. I’ll add that into the beta. Moving the other column up isn’t easy as the room is needed for those that do use the NWS readings and other items you have shut off.

Scott

Thanks Scott!
I’ll wait Ken about translation issue.

Edit 23.50: What are the values in the attachment (red circles) days or hours?
Because how is it possibile to have 1281 heating degree days or 784.8 cooling degree days in one year?
Cheers,

Alessandro

Heres a few things that may help you understand how HDD and CDD work…
