Alternative Dashboard Script Released (Ver 5.03 FINAL RELEASE)

Yes, change it to 16 c, (thats noted in the comment right after the setting!) If you measure snow in CM turn that to true also and it will automatically switch it for you.

I could probably comment the area to remove and insert the code for paypal there. Next version!

Scott

Thank you for the paypal insert.

I tried to make the additions to the CSS files and did not get some thing right. Could the CSS files be zipped up with the rest of the modification. For us technically changed people you understand.

Mark

I didn’t create the CSS update files (just the one I use) so I hate to include them in my package unless they say it’s ok! I’ll ask and if it’s ok with the person that took the time to modify them all, I’d be happy to add it to the package!

Scott

I believe that would be Mike

Thanks
Mark

I have no idea for substitutes. I don’t have a solar sensor (don’t need one). Well…actualy…I do have my own irrigation manager which is the lawn…if the grass is wilted I have to irrigate it. i.e., turn on the sprinkler system.

Oh come on, how can we call ourselves weather weenies if we don’t have an electronic way to tell us to turn the water on!

I’m sure it would be ok to add the CSS to the template CSS … Mike Challis is the ‘keeper of the official CSS’ for the template sets, and he’d need to modify his CSS tool to handle the new styles.

Best regards,
Ken

Ken,

Actually Tim Hanko did up the changes for the CSS for the code I added, I did the blue-narrow one and included instructions on what to add to all the others in my package. Tim actually did up the rest of the CSS files, adding in the codes and changing the colors as required. If Mike would like to add them to the official CSS I think that would be great! I think they add a few good options.

I did ask Tim if I can include his mods with my packages in the mean time. I just try to ask before including other peoples work when possible, just think it important to do and give credit to those that make the effort to share with us!

Alright, the Scouts love it and the updating went smoothly. Only two small bug a boo’s. They placed the fire images in the image folder but left them in the fire folder. This caused the new dashboard to be much wider then the rest of the page. They found that error soon. The second one I could not help them with, but they found it in short time. Had to due with the sun icon. It was in the wrong location and the dashboard used a snow icon instead

Very nicely done. Looks great, and gets the Boy Scouts seal of approval

Thank you very much
Mark

Can’t get a much better approval then that! Thanks

Scott

Looks good Mark.

Chuck

Thanks Chuck. It’s all that hard work you put into to it.

Scouts got to use their CPR skills at the meeting

Mark

Must have been on you Mark.

Chuck

Nope. The Troop Scribe.

Mark

Here is my site with the alternative dashboard. Just changed the names of a couple of files.

One item I find strange is the ambiguity of the representation for sun hours difference. It is shown in brackets under sun hours - mine says (0.04) - but it seems hard to deduce that it means + 4 minutes. Bracketed figures (in Europe anyway) indicate a negative. I would prefer the representation to be +0.04 and -0.04 for the negative, going without brackets. Maybe I’m the only one that doesn’t understand perhaps!!

I could change that for the next release.

Scott

Shouldn’t heating degree days and cooling degree days be based off 18c or 64F (or thereabouts)?

Rick

Rick,

I based the value off the climate report generated by WD that says 65F. I thought for being consistant, it should be the same as WD is using.
