Access violation

Hi

My WD sometimes crash after midnight and I have to kill it thru process manager in Windows. Startwatch still thinks WD is running.

I have checked WD programerrorlog and it has some lines with

ERROR: Access violation at address 005081A7 in module 'WeatherD.exe'.

See attached programerrorlog.txt - it might be something ?

The times my WD has crached has always been around 00:05 and I see some line in the programerrorlog around that time. (Although I also see the Access violation at other times)

Best regards,

Henrik

programerrorlog.txt (21.2 KB)

which version and build of WD?
(that information should always be provided)

Ups - sorry forgot.

Im running Weather Display version 10.37Q build 54

Best regards,

Henrik

is it exactly at 00:05am?
that is not a time that rings a bell for say av/ext or similar
what else happens on the pc at that time?

does the error show under view, program event log ?

Hi Brian

Thanks for your reply.

The times it has happend - it has always been at 00:05.

Nothing else is happening at that time (of my knowledge)

In View > Programlog - I only have 1 entry:

Access violation at address 0040CD4B in module 'WeatherD.exe'. Read of address 0D0A0894
ERROR: Access violation at address 00507C37 in module 'WeatherD.exe'. Read of address 00000F00 at time/date 09:05:23 09/07/11

My friend Christian from cpvejr.dk have same problem some times - but this happens at 00:08 - maybe that can tell you something?

Best regards,

Henrik

the time shown in the view, program event log is 09:05
not 00:05
i.e 5 minutes past 9am

try tunning the debug version and see if that produces an error report

Hi Brian

Thanks for your reply. I know the time in WD > View > Programlog only shows one entry at 09:05 - but if you look at my fresh programerrorlog.txt (see attached) you see that there is a pattern that it almost everytime happens at 00:05, 03:05, 06:05, 09:05 etc.

I have now installed WD debug version - if something happens - will the debug version produce a log? Sorry for asking - but its first time I try the debug version.

Best regards,

Henrik

programerrorlog.txt (23.4 KB)

yes, the debug version should produce an error report and a WeatherD.elf file in c:\

I will also update the debug version…

Great - I will let WD run thru the day and see what happens at 12:05, 15:05, 18:05 etc.

If something happens - I will e-mail you the errorreport and the elf file.

Best regards,

Henrik

Hi Brian

This morning I saw this error:

WD seems to run fine.

When I choose “Click here” I saw an Error Report with a “General” tab and a “Call Stack” tab.

See attached errortext from the “General” tab (wdisplay_general_tab_error.txt).

No new entries in the c:\wdisplay\programerrorlog.txt - only errors from yesterday:
(There are blank screen in “WD > View > Programlog”)

I have been searching for WeatherD.elf file in my system - but havent found it.

Here is a screendump from the error-report (Call Stack tab):

I hope the above might tell you something, and please let me know if you need more information.

Thanks

Weather Display with error/crash debug code v10.37Q Build 48 Debug
for Windows 98 / 2000 / ME / XP/VISTA/W7 & NT
Version on 27 June 2011 - 09:02:22

wdisplay_general_tab_error.txt (3.54 KB)

the error is with the advanced charts, custom graph
you will need to delete the customisation you have done for that graph
chartcustomnew.tee
in the data files folder

delete that file

then see if the error occurs after going to view, advanced charts, custom chart, then click on the plot button

Hi Brian

Thank you very much.

I have deleted the chartcustomnew.tee file in the datafiles folder and tried entering custom charts - it seems to work - I didnt get any errors.

I have updated my WD to latest debug version:

Weather Display with error/crash debug code v10.37Q Build 55 Debug
for Windows 98 / 2000 / ME / XP/VISTA/W7 & NT
Version on 10 July 2011 - 12:31:34

I will follow it the next couple of days. I have emptied the programerrorlog.txt

Best regards,

Henrik

should be OK now

Hi Brian

Im still seeing some errors in c:\wdisplay\programerrorlog.txt:

Access violation at address 0040D13F in module 'WeatherD.exe'. Read of address 0D0A0894
Above error or program log occured at :18:05:18 11/07/11

Access violation at address 004043CB in module 'WeatherD.exe'. Write of address 0D0A10F2
Above error or program log occured at :18:05:16 13/07/11

(In WD > View > Programlog it dont show anything - its just blank)

This night (15.07.2011) my WD crashed at 00:07:58 - and I dont see any wdisplay.elf file or any error-report. The crash also affected WXSIM which crashed with and error in line 7783.

The only way I could get WD going again was killing WD in running processes. After that I restarted WD and it began importing data from the datalogger and it seems to run fine again now.

Hope the above might tell you something?

Best regards,

Henrik

what do you have updating at those times?
it could be other advanced graphs -<-> .tee configuration files problems

the 00:08 is when the daily av/ext is updated

the latest version of WD has some improvements there

Hi Brian

I dont have anything going on at 00:07:58 (what I know of :D)

I have now installed lastest build 57 (not the debug version as this is from July 10 2011)

I have also cleared all uploads of advanced graphs, althought they dont upload at 00:07:58? It says they are uploaded at 6:31 and 18:31

I will see how it goes. (I have cleared the program error log)

Best regards,

Henrik

the 00:07:58 time stamp in the program event log you will find is actually 00:08
i.e the av/ext update

Hi Brian

Thanks for your reply.

Can I do anything to avoid WD crashing during update of av/ext?

I happens in aveage one time a week - not on a specific day.

Best regards,

Henrik

maybe set WD to restart before a week is up
e,g using the reboot (restart option)

Hi again

I have always been restarting WD every night at 00:39 - maybe I should change the restart to a time before midnight?

Best regards,

Henrik
