1-wire solar sensor % is in-correct

I have a hobby-boards 1-wire solar sensor. In the Labjack/1-wire solar setup I entered a value of 185 (assuming this input needs to be in mV) and ticked the “use this value” box. WD appears to be ignoring this and is using 100 mV, as 2.0 mV input gives a 2% reading, 4.4 mV gives 4.4% etc etc. up to 100mV where-upon it stays at 100% (as you might expect).

Can this be looked into please. :frowning:

Hi all,
I’m still stuck with this problem. Does any body have a solution - please.

hi
ok, i better have a look at this…
been a very busy week for me (with non wd things)

hi
i think i have found and fixed it
in a new 10.17j beta
ready now

I found 10.17 K beta :?: Downloading now. Will let you know. Thanks !

Hmmm
Still not making a lot of sense. I have a raw reading of 28.8 mV, I set max volts at 200 (I assume its mV in that setting and that that would be 100%) and WD says thats 33% - not sure how that works ?? To me that should be 14% :?

Just to update this I see also that as the raw reading stays the same and the “max radiation for lat/date” is going down the current reading % is going up.

thata OK

but we need to get the first part working…
i will have another look…

Brian, Any brain-storms on this problem yet?

Found another clue. At midday the reading was near perfect, 100% solar, 175 mV raw from the sensor, max volts set at 175 and ‘Use this value’ checked.

There was a number 893 under the wording Maximum radiation for lat/date.

All I have ticked is as follows.

  1. Plot as blocked in
  2. Plot solar% instead of wm/2…
  3. Store the solar reading as extra…

Now raw reading is down to 150 mV and solar is still 100%.

So why does the time make a difference
:?

i have made some tweaks
in a new 10.17m
which will be ready soon…
(keep an eye on the time stamp on the wd download page)

In now - will let you know how it goes in the morning.

Morning Brian,

Sorry not even close, in fact it almost looks like the calculation is back to front. I currently have 18.1 mV raw giving 33% solar., and just while I’m writing this 26.4 mV became 47% solar. :frowning:

that seems OK to me
as the voltage goes up, so will the reading…but that reading is compared to the max solar you expect for the time of day for you lat/long
(see in the solar setup, it gives you that figure)
is your lat/long correct?
are you getting bright sun light at the moment?

at this time of day, there will be bigger differences between the max reading expected for the time of day from your lat/long and what you are acutaly getting
so dont panic and dont jump to conclusions that its not working just yet
keep an eye on it as the day progesses

But right now I have 100% when there is certainly not full sunlight (raw shows 104 of the possible 175mV so quite a way to go). What I get now is a flat graph (unless there are clouds) until sunset. Not good. :frowning:
Why is it compared to anything, can I not get the raw reading to display as a straight percentage.
Yes Lat/long are set correctly.

the comparison is done to convert the mv to get estimated wm2…which is needed for ET
just a FYI,
on the solar real time graph though you should seae the acutal volts graphing

i have looked at the code , and put numbers in, and it should work
but what i will have to do is put in debug info so we can see what the numebers are doing at each step
i will do that

while youre there… lol can you see why I could never get a w/m2 plot on any of the graphs? with the labjack volts solar

On the solar/uv graph I get a % plot but in the (yellow) w/m2 colour and no other plot apart from ET Its ok, but those w/m2 graphs would look cool as well if its possible

Cheers
Richard

it will be the same issue…
once i get debug data back, showing exactly what wd is doing with the numbers, then I will have a better handle on what is going on
(its hard staring at lines of code and trying to work through how it should work…)

OK - waiting on the debug code then.

When I click on the Solar bar in the main WD page I get a Solar Graph. This looks to have 2 sets of measurements, one blocked in and the other line. The line stuff looks to be upside down (starts off the top of the graph?), but I see no sign of a mV reading, only a wm/2 and ET reading.

i am uploading 10.17n now
with the debug info in it
(see it under view, ws2010/2500 data info and setup
