1-Wire DS 2423 Page

I’m evaluating WDisplay and obviously new to it.

I have a custom built DS2423 counter board, and was hoping to use a single Dallas 2423 chip for both rain counts and lightning strikes. The 2423 has two counter channels available (one on “Page 14” and one on “Page 15”).

WDisplay counts rain just fine with the rain gage connected to Page 15. It doesn’t count rain when the rain gage is connected to page 14. Both pages count as expected when using the iButton viewer.

Can WDisplay use 1-Wire device DS2423 CA000000050E761D on Page 15 for rain, and the same DS2423 CA000000050E761D on Page 14 for lightning strikes? Is there a technical reason this cannot be done?

I’m trying to avoid having to order parts and solder another board together.

I did a search on this forum for “2423 AND page”, “DS2423 AND page”, and “DS2423” and didn’t find anything relavent on the forum.

Thanks,
Doug Woolridge

hi
it is possible…
yes, i have hard wired it to page 15
but i could have an option to use page 14 of that counter…

Thanks for the reply.

I guess this is a feature that I’m very interested in the software having.

Again, the important point is not being able to select between page 14 and 15, but to be able to use both on the same DS2423 chip.

Is this something you’re planning to implement soon?

Thanks,
Doug Woolridge

Bump…

hi
i wil try and see if i can do this in the next day or so
it should not be too difficult hopefully

hi
i have added this now as an option in the dallas 1 wire setup (to use page 14 for rain)
i will upload this new 10.10s version soon, hopefully it will be ready in another 6 hours or so.
hopefully you have not given up waiting for me to do this (which i do in my spare time)

edit:
the new 10.10s version should be ready now

Thanks! Hopefully I’ll have a chance to try it this week.

Thanks again,
Doug Woolridge

Oops, it seems that my trial period has expired. Is there any way to get a short extension to try this new feature?

Please let me know what you think.
Thanks again,
Doug Woolridge

create a file called test.txt where you have WD installed

Thanks again for the help. Sorry for taking so long to reply.

I think we’re getting close, but not quite there yet.

Under the 1-wire setup, I check the “Use Page 14 for rain” and checked “I have a lightning detector” and put “CA000000050E761D” in the corresponding text box.

The 1-wire text box notes that “Rain switch found: CA000000050E761D” and “Lightning detector found and allocated: CA000000050E761D”. My rain gage is set up and the iButton Viewer counts on Page 14. The lightning detector is seen and counts ok in the iButton viewer on Page 15, but…

Niether lightning strikes or rain seems to be counted by weather-display. The wind speed and direction function fine with only a second or two delay.

I right-click on the graphs and select “Lightning Counts” to see the lightning display (never shows any strikes). Rainfall shows the count from my last test (weeks ago) under “rainfall today”, no matter how many times I tip the cup.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks,
Doug Woolridge

P.S. I always get a message box saying “WeatherD.exe has generated error and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program” when I exit Wdisplay.

Sorry, I haven’t checked the forum in a while. I just got my weather station up last night and am still hoping to find a solution.

Hopefully I’ll have time to play this weekend with the new code.

Thanks so much for the help!
